Moderators commission report

The Commission will distribute a 50 page report filled with evidence
documenting the claims the commission has made.

Ken Wingate gave a timeline of events that have transpired since the
called meeting of Synod in March.

The report is now being distributed and then the floor will be open
for discussion.

Opening Worship Service

The Lord's Table was not celebrated tonight, nor did outgoing
moderator DeWitt preach a sermon, but rather shared some of his
thoughts on the current status of the ARP. But, there were bagpipes
and that was marvelous.

Apologies

Apologies for the long absence from this blog. I hope to remedy that by: 1) posting more regularly and 2) "live" blogging from the ARP Synod beginning tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing/meeting many of my brothers in the ARP. There will be weighty issues at this year's meeting, but by the grace of God, I hope we can act rightly.

In the past, I know Rev. Tim Phillips has also blogged the day's events from Synod, so be sure to check his blog, as well.

ARPTalk and Screwtape's letter

The latest issue of ARPTalk is out (as a side note: ARPTalk is now located at http://www.arptalk.org and is done in more of a blog style than the old PDF-download style. I like the new look!). One of the articles in this latest edition is a letter from Screwtape. The piece, much like C. S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters, is rather insightful. In short, the enemy knows that all they have to do to win is wait. Eventually, the good men in the ARP (and there are plenty of them!) will grow tired of fighting, or will be distracted by "more important" issues, or will even, perhaps, give into the suggestion that they shouldn't have been fighting about this in the first place. Once these good men relent, the enemy can go on doing what they want with Erskine and it can continue it's descent into secularism.

After reading through this letter, I am left asking myself: would any elder let what is happening at Erskine happen in his own church?

Charges Filed Against Dr. Hering of Erskine

The Aquila Report is reporting that charges have been filed against Dr. Hering by the session of his church (Unity ARP in Piedmont, NC). The charges are that Dr. Hering, who was party to the lawsuit against the ARP, failed "to promote the unity, peace, purity and prosperity of the church" (the irony of the session of Unity ARP filing this charges is not lost on me).

I am glad to see this happening. Not because I am happy to see discord in the body of Christ, but because this is the appropriate action to take against all those who are in the ARP and who are participants in this lawsuit. I do pray that Dr. Hering repents, and I encourage you to pray the same. I also pray that the ARP has the fortitude to see this issue through to the end. We are still at the beginning stages of what could be a very long fight for Erskine.
